As I jumped out of the aircraft into the murky forest again, after a couple hours of a dozen similar jumps, I thought Evolve might be really growing on meIs this game fun?

While it’s a question important for all video games, Evolve‘s structure of rapid-fire rounds means you’ll be doing a lot of the same things over and over. Does the game’s unique formula have the staying power to keep players coming back?

While I’ll tentatively say yes in these first impressions, I have a plenty of questions to raise about the game moving forward.

Sneak, chase, hunt, kill

Evolve is based around a unique premise to multiplayer gaming: four players team up as Hunters to take down one beefed up player, acting as a monster — the final boss from your nightmares. The four players, each occupying a different class with different abilities, must take down the monster or complete a certain objective while keeping it at bay. The monster’s win condition is the opposite, but usually involves killing all four players as it tries to level up by munching on wildlife found across the maps.
