Project Spartan was unveiled last month, when Microsoft detailed its Windows 10 features and the browser was announced for both mobile and desktop. The novelty here is the fact that one of the latest Windows 10 builds apparently also comes with the browser and we’ve got screenshots of it in action.

We’re talking about build 10009, that can use Project Spartan, since the browser is included within the OS. The screenshots reveals exactly what we expected from Microsoft and what they detailed: a favourites menu (and a favourites bar), a reading list, reading mode and browser-like functions. The Spartan app is becoming more mature, although the screenshots don’t do it justice and make it feel cluttered.

The extra dock and calendar on the desktop in the screenshot are third party apps and should be ignored. The clean UI of the app may feel nice, but at the same time archaic. Bing Search is also integrated as a default for now and Cortana will come to Project Spartan as well, soon. The browser has a multi tab system, obviously and it works pretty much like all the other browsers do, feeling a bit more like Safari and less like Chrome.

Features shown in the screenshots are SmartScreen filter, detect phone numbers and various reading styles and fonts.
