Although we don’t know much about it, we do know that Nintendo has a new system in the works.
Nintendo held a press conference in Tokyo today, and they discussed a new system that they’re working on. Satoru Iwata had this to say:
As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business, let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept.
Considering that the New Nintendo 3DS just launched, this is probably a reference to a new home console, though we cannot be certain. Nintendo is calling the project “NX” for now. More information should be coming next year, as Nintendo states “it is too early to elaborate.”
This more than likely means that the new hardware will launch in several years, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.
