Magento Community Edition (CE) is an open source platform that is free to download, use and modify. Magento Enterprise Edition (EE) is a licensed software platform that’s designed for large businesses that need more features and functionality and access to technical support.
The biggest difference between LemonStand and Magento is really our target market. Magento’s focus is on their money-making commercial product, Magento Enterprise Edition. I think the name speaks for itself. Their target customers are the largest retailers in the world, with huge revenue and IT budgets to match. While Community Edition is often used by smaller companies, these companies have to go it alone with no support from Magento.
