Payment gateway Realex Payments has been sold to Global Payments. Realex Payments processes over 29 billion in payments for thousands of online and mobile businesses worldwide and will continue to do this as part of Global Payments, a provider of payment technology services. The transaction is valued at 115 million euros.
Realex Payments has announced the news on its company blog. Colm Lyon, CEO of the Irish company, says it’s a deal of significant strategic fit, “in that together we will be able to achieve so much more”. He thinks the combination of Realex Payments’s online payments technology and the international merchant acquiring capability of Global Payments will create “a compelling proposition for the customers of both businesses.” He thinks the acquisition is a great deal for their customers, for their employees and for Ireland.
