Samsung Gear S2 review [hands on]: Samsung successfully goes circular

The first thing you notice about the Samsung Gear S2 is that Samsung has finally made a smartwatch with a round face, rather than the rectangular face of the original Gear S. This isn’t simply to try out a new shape, because the Gear S2 has a circular interface that works really well with the circular format and rotating bezel. More on that later.

The Gear S2 is a significant departure from the original Gear design, not only in its shape but also in the way the watchstrap attaches. On the Gear S2 (there is also a Gear S2 Classic, which we’ll move onto in a moment); the rubber strap connects to a metal clasp enclosed within the edges of the watch. You simply pull a lever underneath and the whole strap slides off. Samsung is working with a variety of partners to provide alternate watchbands.
