Analysts claim iPhone continues to control US smartphone market in Q3

Apple is continuing to lead other smartphone manufacturers in terms of smartphone shipments to the United States in the third quarter, according to Strategy Analytics, despite an alleged dip in iPhone shipments during the period, and an overall year-on-year contraction of the U.S. smartphone market.

The report from analyst firm Strategy Analytics estimates Apple shipped 12 million iPhones within the U.S. during the third quarter of 2017, down from the estimated 13 million units shipped in the same period last year. Closest rival Samsung slightly narrowed Apple’s lead further, with an estimated 9.9 million units shipped, up from 9.7 million for Q3 2016.
